Garden In The Park

The Penn State Master Gardener’s of Allegheny County are having their annual Garden In the Park (GIP) garden exhibition and  sale on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at North and South Parks. The hours for this function are 8AM to 1PM. The GIP showcases the many-faceted gardens at North and South Parks that the Master Gardeners plant and maintain yearly for the purpose of education and research. There are tomato, garlic, pesto tastings, and many other fun activities for guests. And the famous Penn State ice cream!

Four plant clubs have been invited to participate with the Master Gardeners to promote and encourage new membership for each Club. The plant Clubs participating are the Daffodil and Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania (DHSWP), Pittsburgh Iris and Daylily (PIDS), North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS), and Mens Garden Club. We are asking for three or four volunteers at each Park to help each Club promote membership through talking about your Club, passing out  membership literature and information, and making people aware of scheduled events on the Clubs’ calendars. Friendly faces and enthusiastic individuals are desperately needed to man the booths, releaving each other so everyone can enjoy the many aspects of GIP.  Please contact Stephen Plato at sjplato46@gmail.com.
